People Say
‘Work of art’ – Dear Moowon team! I just discovered the website/online magazine - and have to tell you how amazing I think it is!
Kari Synnøve Johansen, Norway
[…] It has honored these artisans and their art form with such dignity. It reminds me to slow down and act more carefully. It awakens my senses: from the feeling of the paper, to the visual impact of the images to the depth of the text.
A. B., New York, USA
[…] is like a deep (visual) meditation...
I feel I've been reconnected to something real and profoundly enriching.
Fronza Woods-Pleasance, Ribaute, France
The stories […] take me to all the places in the pictures: I walk through a Tibetan grassland, roam the stark land of Kutch, and journey on the saffron road. I extract ochre from cliffs, paint on cloth in the Rogan way, carve wood into vessels, and comb river shoals for marble quality flint stone…
Mary Faber, Alexandria, USA
Moowon Magazine
Launched in 2015,
Moowon is a purpose-driven initiative that drives positive change to the world through the power of storytelling. Moowon
has been featured in international media including WWD (Women’s Wear Daily).
Its founder and editor in chief, Mona Kim, is an award-winning creative director, educator and lecturer, and principle of multidisciplinary design consultancy, Mona Kim Projects. She has been conceiving public space experiences and large-scale experiential projects for global brands and cultural institutions. Her museum and exhibition design for the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, World Expo, Museum of Tomorrow (Museu do Amanhã), and UNESCO-sponsored projects, gave her the opportunity to document and be exposed to some of the most distinctive examples of social realities and cultural expressions. She had co-curated world issues such as endangered languages, cultural diversity and sustainability.
The Moowon project is an extension of this global background. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Domus, The Creative Review, and in publications by Gestalten and The Art Institute of Chicago.
